The Nature Booklist Project creates a searchable paired booklist on environmental topics plus
each pair includes a sample active learning strategy!

Librarians, environmental educators, and parents can achieve the balance of informational and literary texts across grade levels required by Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Easily select books on interesting nature topics for children to young adults. You can even search on a variety of active learning strategies associated with book pairs, or by topic.

The project is a recipient of the Carnegie Whitney Award from the American Library Association and was created by a Syracuse University iSchool professor and NC Certified Environmental Educator, Dr. Marilyn Arnone. Several iSchool students work on the project and even alumni have contributed annotations and active learning strategies!

The books below are display only, not clickable. Please use the search function to find books. This list is a work in progress. We will continue to add books to the list and welcome suggestions!
